Global Graphics optimizes productivity for new Durst label workflow
Cambridge, UK, 19th September, 2017: Global Graphics Software announces today that Durst Group has selected the Harlequin RIP® and the ScreenPro™ screening engine to optimize data throughput in Durst Symphony™, the new Durst workflow. Symphony will drive the Durst Tau 330 digital and packaging presses, including Durst’s new Tau 330 RSC, that will be shown at Labelexpo Europe in Brussels ( 25 – 28 September, Durst booth 8B26 in hall 8).
Global Graphics is a developer of platforms for digital printing, including the Harlequin RIP®, Durst is a manufacturer of advanced digital printing and production technologies.
Durst chose Harlequin for its ability to produce high-quality output at high-speed and for its consistency and reliability. The Durst TAU 330 RSC runs at 78 lin. meters/min for 8 color separation with 1200 x 1200 print resolution and Harlequin’s ability to render large amounts of variable data with ease ensures the most demanding print schedules can be met.
Global Graphics BreakThrough engineering service was also a factor in Durst’s decision, says Global Graphics’ CEO Gary Fry, “to support integration and product development.”
Global Graphics worked on the project with Durst’s system integrators, Prepress Digital, based in Lienz, Austria.
Hans Peter Schneeberger, Prepress Digital’s Managing Director comments, “Harlequin gives Durst complete autonomy over their choice of features and the degree of customization. It has provided us with the development flexibility we need – you can easily integrate third party tools for instance – and the fact that it’s scalable was an important factor for us because our brief was to create a workflow that can drive any kind of device.”
Christoph Gamper the CEO of Durst Group says, “Our users will be delighted with the increased speed and performance they will experience with Symphony. Harlequin combined with ScreenPro optimizes the data throughput and provides them with a platform for handling variable data in the future, even if every label is different. We’ve created a state of the art user interface that puts application specific functions at the operator’s fingertips.”
Harlequin is the fastest renderer on the market enabling manufacturers to achieve rated engine speed from their presses and providing print service providers with a boost in productivity. ScreenPro gives a significant increase in output quality for digital inkjet presses and can be tuned to specific press/media combinations.
